It's pretty good. It's sturdy, has drawers, and generally does well as a workbench. The vise on the side isn't great but it's made out of wood, does the job if you're holding big pieces but not great for small ones (which is mostly what I use it for). Considering you can get it on sale with a coupon for pretty cheap I'd say go for it. The drawers don't come out all the way which is kind of annoying too. I mostly use it for my soldering/PCB making work and use my other bench I built myself for the other tools.

Looks like hardboard. It's a good choice because it's fairly durable, protects the wood underneath, and cheap to replace when it gets damaged.
Link below is pretty close. Super cheap. I used a large amount of panel nails to cover 2 pieces of 1" plywood that are wood glued together.
I almost thought it was a granite block until I saw the nails.

Workbench was all custom made by my father in law and I. It cost roughly $100 in lumber, light fixture, and misc pieces.
First thing I looked for was the soldering iron. Did not disappoint.
I would be afraid that I would drop a hammer or something on the keyboard.
I only use the hammer when trying to put a CPU into a motherboard.

While this is good advice, this doesn't look like a "woodworking shop" that would require that kind of extra care. Notice the tools are all pretty standard pliers and screwdrivers. It's also carpeted and in what looks like a small den room. I highly doubt this would end up being much different than a case in a normal bedroom.

Me too! I can't wait until that day comes. It'll be years, so by that time a fanless design will be about as powerful as my current (4-year-old, but beastly) laptop.

It's funny you say that. I looked into paying for my own since this one was ISP provided (no monthly rental) but it wouldn't make much of a difference based on the research I did. My current plan is 15 mbps down, 5 mbps up.
True for that level of speed you don't really need to upgrade your modem. I just hope it is not one of the first series which is that 5100 as its only a docsis 2.0 and wont be ipv6 ready.

That's just good old pegboard. You can find it at your local hardware store. I got mine at Lowe's I believe for under $15. It came in a 4' x 8' sheet and I cut it to fit.
