Get Monitor - Computer Setup

Neat! Next step would be to turn that LED setup into a DIY ambilight type thing, where it changes the color of the backlight to match the overall tone of what's on your screen. People have done this using arduino's or PIC microcontrollers.
I have the same LED's. It has a color wheel and can be almost any color, and it has a randomizer that transitions colors slowly.
I have a DIODER and got excited at the prospect of messing with mine, but that article made me realize I don't know a single thing about circuitry.
It's pretty easy to get into, even though this is a moderately complex hack.
You should a make videos teaching this whenever you have spare time. The way you describe the detail to make it makes it so easy to follow!
Thank you. I've thought about that before, but I'm really not an expert myself. I just have a basic understanding. It's just that I'm good at explaining things. It's a shame that isn't more valued around coolcomputersetups like it used to be.
Mobile version of coolcomputersetups needs a save button.
That's an awesome idea. I'll have to check it out
Is there a 3840x1080 version?
Source image is only 3000px wide, but i did my best with some filters and smoothing to compensate for the scaling.
This guy definitely took fuck classes.
I'm a little bit in love with the floating monitor.
Probably one of the best computer setups I've seen. Seriously, I've never commented on one except this one.
As a person who loves cable management, this is almost like porn for me
Sweet jesus. There really is a sub for everything and this is amazingly beautiful.
Just curious, what type of LED bars did you use for the backlighting?
And how was the attaching done?
Looks like it worked well, may give it a try. Thanks!
Are you using all four HDMI jacks, or did you put in extra for future use and are currently only using 1 with your monitor?
Yeah I put four HDMI jacks in so I could add more monitors. I plan on buying two more soon.
Will you be mounting the other 2 on the wall in a similar fashion?
Yeah I'll probably get monitor arms for the other two
Where do you get nice cord management pieces like the right angle one you have. I think i'll have to order them online. Nobody local seems to know what i'm talking about lol.
Funny that it would be from bestbuy... considering I asked them yesterday and they had no idea. Thanks for the link.
You can also get them for dirt cheap from monoprice. com
These always look so damn hot until we cover the desk with Mt. Dew cans...
Wow.. Thats really impressive. How long did this take to set up?
I could have done it in a couple of days but the parts all got here at different times so it took me a little over a week
Wow. what screen is that btw?
Really? Same monitor I have. The pictures make it look like it's a 30"+ TV or something.
Same monitor that has been sitting in my Amazon Cart for weeks. How do you like it?
Just one 24" monitor? Do you only game there or do other stuff too? You have gaming consoles in the desk?
I wired it so I could easily add more. I plan on buying two more soon. I mainly just game here and I don't have any consoles in the desk. Those are in the basement hooked up to the TV.
Very nice setup! What monitor is that? I have the same Wallpaper :)
Where can we get that wallpaper?
You should try building a PWM circuit to attenuate the brightness on the LED backlighting. That's what I'm doing for mine.
The camera makes it look a lot brighter than it actually is but a dimmer would be nice. I'll be sure to check it out.
Cut those extra pieces off of that Ethernet punchdown. Your punchdown tool was supposed to do it for you, but obviously didn't.
Where did you get the LEDs? Looks nice.
Are they easy to turn off? I just don't see the point in ambient lighting unless it's a screen saver or something.
This is beautiful. What monitor are you using?
Really nice professional job. The tubing you used to conceal the cables on the wall, do you know of an online store I can grab some of that? I am in Australia you see and looking at your power outlet I'd say you are in the US.
Stop looking at my power outlet!
I almost chocked with jealousy when I thought that the insulation foams were all weed...Such a delicious thought.
That is one of the sexiest gaming setups I've seen.
The back lights really compliment the wallpaper well, can you supply us with a non-jpg source?
IS THAT A BLUE MERLE?!?
OP, I love you, is that a Blue Heeler?
Yup he's a little over a year old
My first puppy dog was a Blue Heeler.
Where do you buy the backlights from?
Please, please, please tell me where you got that wallpaper
Where did you get the LED bars? I'm building a custom desktop and I would like some nice lighting.
Now go back in the attic and spray foam those holes in the top plates that you made so that you don't have a path for attic air to infiltrate through those holes, through the boxes, and through the outlets into your home.
God forbid if that shelf would collapse. Did you mount it good enough OP?
Don't worry it's mounted into two studs and one drywall anchor
Could I enquire as to what icon pack you are using for your taskbar icons and how you installed them? I'm trying to get some set up but certain programs like Skype won't accept the change and they revert when the program is running.
That looks sick. Good stuff man!
This is great! Very professional looking. I might consider buying those LEDs. I have some mounted on the back of my monitor but they're just plain white.
This looks fantastic, but are the lights behind the monitor distracting during gameplay?
Dude...damn. I'm jealous good sir.
This is simply fascinating! Seriously one of the only gaming setups here that literally made my eyes open wide. I love this!
The astounding cleanliness and symmetry is tickling my OCD's ballsack.
You should move the speakers away from the wall a little and angle them in slightly.
Fair play, that is insane. Props to you good sir.
Now this is a gaming setup! A true dedication to the art.
Best I've seen in a long time
Love the hell out of it, but, what if you ever want a second monitor?
Glorious. Simply glorious. I am very jealous. Wish I wasn't in an apartment so I could tackle this kind of a job.
I think I need a cigarette after that.
You inspired me. I thought it would take moving out of my parents (I'm still in high school) to have a nice gaming setup. I spent all day cleaning and rearranging my bedroom (which has been in the same arrangement for about 10 years) and when I was finally done I went to walmart and looked for LED strips. The only ones they had were shit, and overpriced. I bought two fluorescent battery powered strips, and some balloons and taped the balloons over the lights to make them blue. I dont have a picture because my phone doesnt do it justice. First I've ever been proud of my room.
Oh you have got to be fucking kidding me. There goes the rest of my airline points.
Wow....what I would do to have a setup that beautiful.
I fucking love the backlight!
The simplicity, no cables to be seen, the backlighting... Outstanding sir. 10/10.. Would get jealous again.
Keyboard and Mouse? It all looks really nice together.
Amazing setup man! I love the hidden cables and the lighting. When i move into a house soon i plan on doing the same with the cables. It gives a really nice clean professional look to everything.
Excuse me, where i can i get thouse backlight you got behind your tv?
IMO probably the nicest set up I have seen since I joined this sub. Exquisite job!
Very, very nice work.
Can i ask where did you get that lighting kit?
Walls that are made of paper instead of concrete do have their advantages ....
Your monitor looks like it's curved on the back. How did you manage to mount the dioders without them coming off? My monitor is curved on the back, and if i mount the dioders with the sticky tape included, eventually one end will peel off... Any suggestions?
I have been out of gaming setup for awhile and was catching up and had to say your Setup is Sick! I love how simplistic it looks.
The wash looks like ass.
I'm high and this is trippy as fuck. Grats man.
The monitor isn't straight =/ It's slightly lower on the left than the right.
