Damn thats a sweet rig, but you need a new desk man!
I'd love a huge kidney-shaped desk, but I don't have the room for it. My bed takes up about 2/3rds of my room.
I respect your rig.
It's taking some getting used to using portrait. I've run a three monitor setup for eight years now, so the bezels don't bother me. So far, I'm not terribly fond of portrait for normal desktop.
Yeah I see that, you and your friend did an awesome job on the mounts XD I can appreciate it, as I said. :)
What rig do you have pushing those displays?
The computer is an i5 2500k with 16GB of ram and a Radeon 290X. Each monitor is a Dell U2713HM.
How well does the PC run games on the monitors?
I haven't tried anything strenuous on it yet, but it does FFXIV:ARR and Bioshock Infinite at 4646x2560 (4320x2560 + bezel correction) at 55-60 FPS, and RTS games are pretty amazing at that resolution.
Hate to be a buzzkill but I'm pushing sli titans to the max on games like witcher add skyrim with an enb at 4320x2560. With 5 monitors you wouldn't be able to run anything, even quad sli titans
I'm not expecting max. Based on what I've been playing with at 4646x2560, I'm anticipating 30fps on medium settings and older games.
Absolutely. I bet 7200x2560 is gonna look sick though
Sounds pretty good. looking forward to seeing it all finished!
The mount was fabricated from A36 mild steel. The majority of which is 1x2 rectangular tube, with the brackets being made of 2x3. All the steel is 11ga thick. I welded it with MIG, 0.035 ER70S-6 with C25 shielding gas. Each monitor mount pivots around a steel hemisphere, adjustment being accomplished by grade 5 1/4-28 set screws. The stand is attached to the desk with cheap commodity zinc plated 3/8-16 bolts, nuts, washers and lock-washers. The stand was painted matte black with a rattle can of rustoleum.
Most impressive! Wish i had somebody to make me something like this!
What MST hub did you order? Are those even out yet? Been waiting for a few years now.
So your graphics cards arent running all of your monitors? Its an adapter to get them all plugged in>?
The card itself only has four ports: 1 displayport, 1 hdmi, and 2 dvi-d. I can get all five monitors running with two cards, but eyefinity will only run monitors on one card, so that means no gaming.
Ahhh, thanks! any recommendations on a hub that is not too expensive (under $100 usd)
In case you missed it: this is a 7200*2560 setup. That's nearly two billion pixels.
I really don't know how people deal with the bezels when they are so close to each other.
Anyway you can have your roommate post the plans used for the monitor stand? I'm looking to build something similar to this and would love to see other designs to take in to consideration.
What game are you playing in the last picture?
Get a linnamon table top from ikea, set your pc on the top off of the floor. Measure the area you have from bed to wall and get the table top that fits. Makes a ton of difference.
Oh man, with multiple monitors I think Id be close to removing the bezels and putting the TN panels themselves closer together. If you removed the housings and made your own I could see the bezel being reduced to under an inch.
