What Monitors - Computer Setup

Comments

Jesus christ, dude, how big is your room...
I go to Uni in Wales so the rent is pretty low for what you get.
Just out of curiosity, why did you separate out all your servers into 4 physical boxes? Especially since you have a VM server?
My Uni project requires me to build software and then to benchmark it so to make sure the tests are fair I had to build dedicated rigs. I found the VM's were not giving consistent results, even worse when heavily multithreading.
So in a effort to make this better I have a dedicated machine for the software and a dedicated server for benchmarking it.
What benchmarking software do you use?
Well I have not worked that out at the moment. Currently just testing Apache AB but would like to explore better options as well. Seen good results online from from gwan benchmark. The benchmarking is related to HTTP Servers and PHP :) (everyones favourite programming language) .
Do you contribute extra to the power bill? I'm assuming you're in a shared house. That's a lot of wattage there.
The others use fair amount of power as well. I did offer in the past. We probably have a usually large electricity usage compared to most students. I did try and get the energy company to give us economy 7 but was hassle and they said it would not help us.
Does mean the room is never really cold
Nice. How long does it take you to set this up after a move?
I live on the 3rd floor this year so the stairs were a killer. The desk was brought in pretty large parts as well so that was a 3 man job to get it up.
What monitors on the left?
All the monitors are Samsung SyncMaster P2450. No longer being sold (no idea why they are great)
Can you link the stand you got from amazon for the monitors?
Awesome rig but please get a new keyboard to do it justice!
Really? I like the mac keyboard with the number pad included.
I am studying Web Development.
What desk is that? I think I have the same one but I don't know the name.
I am sorry no idea, I got it off ebay
I have the same curtains!
Compared to my uni room it's so much better
Humble suggestion - Open up the base on that speaker stand so it has a bigger footprint. With so much weight on top, it looks like it could tip over if you sneezed in its general direction.
Its not really as bad as you might think. They are pretty stable, and you would really have to tilt them over to drop them.
Wow this university gaming setup kind of puts mine to shame :/ I thought I had a pretty decent one for college
Yours looks pretty sweet too
