How are you finding the PB278Q? Do you use it to game? I'm seriously considering one right now, it'd be a nice upgrade from my 1080p monitor.
Being a hardcore FPS gamer (BF3/4) and coming from a long steady use of a CRT, the input lag is going to take quite a while to get used to. But, if you're coming from an LCD, it shouldn't be anywhere near as bad of an effect on your gameplay. Contrast is very acceptable, and response time is pretty typical (5ms) for this display, and doesn't cause too much ghosting. Again, I'm pretty biased since I'm coming from a CRT.
Nice, I'm stuck between this one and the 27" 1440p Dell Ultrasharp but I'm leaning more towards the Dell.
No! I test drove both side by side and the ASUS blows the Dell out of the water. The Dell has that nasty anti-glare film that destroys the image. I'm really perplexed as to why they decided it was a good idea to put on their high end ultrasharps. The ASUS is an all-around better monitor on paper as well, has a better warranty, and is anywhere from $50 to $150 cheaper than the Dell.
I can actually get the Dell for £50 cheaper and as for warranty, I've read that Dell's is much better and they also have a Pixel defect warranty where they'll replace the monitor even if it has only one dead pixel. One thing I did read about the Asus was the quality of the material used. Many reviewers said it felt cheap for how much it retails for.
Interesting, I'd have to say the opposite. I'd say it feels very sturdy and solid. Also, ASUS also offers the same pixel-perfect warranty for 2 years, with 3 years of general warranty as well. Although, I'm not sure if that's the case over in the UK.
Thanks for the replies, looks like I'll have to do a bit more research before I purchase one.
I used to lug around my fw900 for lan parties, but damn it was worth it.
Not to be "that guy," but what did you do with the 570s in the corner?
Haha, they were sold. That picture was taken right after I upgraded to the current dual 770s in the rig now.
