Gaming Setup - Computer Setup

Comments

Nicely done, Junior. Try to make it an annual event.
Will do! It was alot of fun to throw, and all the guests wanted to do it again. So next year should be good to go.
The very best indeed!for the price...
Fuck it, dude, sometimes you just have cravings for super cheap greasy pizza no matter how good it is. On a lazy LAN party day, I'd rather take a couple slices of cheap pizza than sit down with a hearty deep dish or a savory thin crust pizza.
My god man, where have you been? Let me blow your mind, $1.50 for a huge hot dog or polish sausage and a soda. And they're delicious.
$1 Churros, sell outside ballpark for 2 dollars. Infinite money.
Oh yes! Their take home frozen pizzas are pretty tasty, but their in-store slices are even better in my opinion.
Now I really wanna know who the hell Burton and Stephen are.
You know when you invite friends over and there's always someone who fucks shit up?
This, that's exactly who they are.
I had a game night last night and I left my computer unlocked. I think most things were fine, but I realized my icons were moved around.
And come come back to your computer to find your wallpaper has been changed to a picture of big breasted woman taking a full stallion cumshot to the face. Yep, used to work at a lan center.
That's not exactly their style, actually that's something along the lines i would do if i were in a trolling mood. They like forkbombs and reverse mice (move mouse up, and cursor goes down, move left and it goes right, etc). He keeps all of these batch scripts on a flashdrive.
Highschool freshman/sophomores, I guess if that's children, then ok
"I keep getting older, and they stay the same age."
Yes they do... yes they do...
Either we're getting smaller, or you're getting bigger.
No man, when I was in high school freshmen and sophomores were NOT that kiddish. You guys look like 12-14
Freshmen in high school, if my suspect math is correct, would put them at ~14/15
Right, so some are Freshmen, but most looked either EARLY 14 (it is summer, so some of them may have been in 8th grade last year), or younger.
No, we are freshman going into sophmore
I don't know your feeling. I'm a freshman going into sophmore and I look like i'm 18. Also jew I is also jew english bad.
Just wait. You'll get into your mid/late 20's and look back only to realize that a 15 year old looking 18 doesn't mean jack shit. You all look like middle schoolers.
I know how you feel, man. We're getting older. :(
You wouldn't say that about the people at my school...
Yes, until you're at least 18, you're most certainly children.
Holy crap. I was sitting here thinking these kids were like in 6th grade.
Some of these people look like they're ten.
What?!?! They're not just on the internet?
Sadly, that's a bigger LAN party than most of us have ever been to, if we've been to on at all. :(
I feel your pain.
I go twice a year to Dreamhack.
I'm at one right now...
My biggest lan party was 2 people...
I've been to big and small, for me personally the small ones are more fun
Actually a local Gamestop in my area hosted a couple of huge ones taking up an entire conference center on my college campus. It was beautiful. It was the day the first Borderlands game came out and everyone got a free copy because a guy won it in a tournament then cracked it and passed around the USB drive with the crack. Then there is one hosted by some guys at L3 Communications in my area as well.
Lol everyone got a free pirated copy of borderlands
Yeah, I think the most people I've had at a LAN party was four.
My friends and I use to have them every weekend or so, but now that school is out. I've been hosting a LAN/D&D party that usually lasts about 2-3 days at my house. It is quite the virgin fest, but with only 4 of us, it usually doesn't get too out of hand, and we still have a good time.
You guys could always just fuck each other.
Why is there toilet paper on the desk?
He was sick and had to keep blowing his nose
Oh no. The virus is spreading.
SO. MANY. APPLE. COMPUTERS.
Unfortunately, there were about 4. Though it would have been much simpler if people just brought PCs
They at least had bootcamp running right?
One had bootcamp, another was dualbooting with linux, the other 2 installed bootcamp shortly after (twins with macs).
Sharing game files and not needing to loan out as many computers.
I was thinking more along the lines of either these kids dont mind really shitty graphics or they have expensive laptops. I cant stand gaming on laptops.
That is the most horrific gif I've ever seen. I don't know if it makes it better or worse that I haven't seen that episode..
IMHO it's the best South Park episode. (Make Love Not Warcraft)
Oh god no, he just had a cold!
Why are people downvoting this? LAN parties are awesome
Maybe some people don't count LAN parties as gaming setup posts.
It's mostly that coolcomputersetups as a whole hates anyone under 20.
Wait, so a place where 12 people played video games and setup computers, and actually had (in game) battles, isn't a gaming setup?
It doesn't matter. A computer setup is your personal achievement. I believe it violates the personal information rule V. Also there were no towers shown. Monitors aren't that awesome.
Meh, not really looking to argue. But I felt pretty accomplished after organizing all of this.
You seem to have forgotten an 'r'. I don't know what a lan paty is...
LAN Paty mate, it's what all the cool kids are doing
See OP, he's mad you had a Lan Party instead of the infinitely more popular Lan Paty, step up your game OP!
Any reason for the 100MB limit? That seems....rather low.... :p
I don't want people eating up my bandwidth, but I wasn't going to stop people from Downloading small files, the point of 100mb is so they don't download massive files. Anyway, there wasn't any downloading going on anyway
Fair enough - in future if you (or anyone reading this, really) hold another LAN, it might be worth looking into QoS, if your router is clever enough it'll let you evenly share the bandwidth so everyone gets a fair share. Of course, there's not much point if you're stuck on like....2Mbit.
I get like 50/20, and in reality I could have taken the extra bandwidth, I just wanted to be a little cautious
50/20? Shit man, I I'm on a slower connection than that and I download 10GB+ a day with no problems...
I got like 10/1.5 and the past 5 months were ATLEAST 400gb.
Damn, how do you download so much per day. Don't you have a monthly limit?
Aren't download limits only for cell phones? I've heard of people getting letters/phone calls for going over 1T transfer/month, but it's usually just a "wtf are you doing?" instead of an actual limit.
Never EVER had or seen capped Internet before
Hell, I download anywhere between 11-15 gigs a day on my desktop alone with 20/2-40/4 (laptop is about 10 gigs per day)
Yeah, I realize now that I was being fairly greedy, I just didn't want one person downloading a lot to slow down every one else's connection
Hey man, your house your rules. Don't worry about it.
I'm still trying to figure out what brother man in the black shirt on the couch is doing in picture three.
Haha, he told me he was doing epic poses for every picture on purpose.
Not a fan of the game list at all. Throw up some ROTT 13' next year. Or some other sort of fast paced FPS. Quake, Unreal, etc.
I had a playlist of loud music that I would play and pause through out the day. Also, we played lots of halo, that was the main shooter of the day. The problem is most people who came didn't have top of the line gaming rigs, so I picked games everyone could play.
Quake 3 will run on anything these days.
De_ratz was my lan party go-to.
CS:Source runs on Mac, PC, and Linux.
Halo... You guys run PCs. You have better options that that trash :P
I have some of those games, but in all honesty, halo CE is pretty fun with custom maps and game types. The main events all took place in minecraft anyway (a game all of us love and adore)
You have superior hardware and resort to playing crap console ports.
Bro, i play tribes ascend, and most of these people are actually very tech litterate (ie. don't patronize teenagers).
I did something similar with a few friends. It was frustrating to get one friend's computer set up since it was a mess. Other than that, these things are very fun.
I had spare computers setup in case something like that happened. Two people ended up borrowing computers from me. Though I didn't tolerate waiting for people to start events, we just started and threw the person into the game when they were ready, and we'd give them what ever advantage/disadvantage to make it fair.
Sigh. Now I feel old... kids nowadays with their laptops powerful enough to play games!
I remember high school going to the local internet cafe to play cs 1.6 and WC3/SC1 back in the day before we had internet at home. Those were the days. Sadly my apartment is too small to host such events
I remember having house lan parties. The smell of half eaten shit being blown around by the pc fans. The stingy feeling in your eyes when you walk outside and just laughing at inanimate shit because you're sleep deprived. Fun times. Least yours has a girl there.
Awww how cute you had party hats :D
That looks like a lot of fun, good on you.
Who the heck brings a MAC to a LAN?
What did the guy with the MacBook play?
A few people had macbooks, some of which dual booted, some borrowed computers, and others brought multiple laptops. But, they played minecraft and halo CE (just like all of us)
This looks like a lot of fun.
You must have good internet
I do have good Internet, but that isn't a requirement for a LAN party. All you need is a router and a network switch (not always necessary but a huge convenience). Games being played on a LAN don't use internet
Unfortunately those days are gone for most modern games :(
I pretty much only play LoL at my LANs :(
Are these your friends or random people?
Oh, thought they were random people since when I saw the rulelist and thought that would suck! :p
I'm 22. Had my first one a week ago with four buddies. It was insanely fun. A lot more fun than being on skype or in game chat.
Haha, me and the same group have weekly Pvp events (typically minecraft) and call each other on Skype. That's normally a lot of fun, but this is a huge notch higher.
I see what you did there...
I was wondering when i was going to get the grammar nazi on my ass....
This looks like a really fun time, I wish my friends were into PC gaming.
Get the neighbors involved and double the attendance!
You call that small? The biggest LAN party i have been in included 4 people.
My biggest was myself and my server pc...
Damn, I wish I could hold something like this. Too bad none of my friends play a similar game. :/
My friends all play games on consoles...
LAN's are awesome. Although its sometimes tough to get everyone to agree on a genre to play. I'm throwing one soonish.
Was it really LAN? Or just a PC Gaming Bonanza? Regardless looks like a good time.
It was a true LAN, I had a network switch and several tournaments that ran off of my server.
Cool, I recently went to a small "LAN" party, much Planetside 2 was played but no LAN. I kept telling people to not call it a LAN party. lol
I recently threw a 25 man LAN party with some friends and I have to say the information hand out sheet would of saved hours of running from computer to computer reciting server IP addresses shudders keep up the good work my friend, hopefully you can find a venue with a bit more free space in the future.
I honestly have been planning the LAN Party since December, but i had to keep postponing it until now. So, in that time i thought of ways to make sure everything worked seamlessly on the party day, so i could game more and organize less.
The best decision I ever made when planing one of these was to run wires for the wired network and power to each computers spot the night before the party. Must have saved an hour.
I had these long 10 plug power strips underneath each table that let each person just plug their stuff in right beneath their feet.
Did you invite strangers like what teenagers do on house parties? Or is there some sort of community there?
A community, this group is a section of what i call our school's gaming club (Not a school club at all, just a facebook group)
The only thing missing is a Magic the Gathering booster draft.
Lol what a sausage fest
Welcome to the world of computers
Enjoy your friends and your LAN parties bro you will miss this shit after High School.
My friends and I have been throwing LAN parties since high school. Keep at it, its a great way to keep in touch and gather everyone together.
Well done my friend , looks fun
An bookmark for playing basketball
So, the guy with the toilet paper by his rig, did he come to jack off?
Good on you OP. Looking at their age, were they shouting anything to the lines of "get noscop3d!!" or about having intercourse with each other's mothers?
Looks like a great time. Keep it up! We need to make these type of activities don't turn into 'back in the day' stories.
Luckily for you, I use SwiftKey. Long press on "c" will make a quotation mark
Did you guys have any power issues?
Nope, not at all, which was surprising since the power in my house goes out semi often. All this + a TV with a Wii in the next room (forgot to take a photo of) ran just fine.
Why didn't you go out side to take pictures of people... outside?
Mom took the pictures, I saw her taking some and didn't bother to take any. Though, I realize now that there was a lot I left out
This whole thing is... owch..
I Looked At Your Pictures Today, They Were Nice
What's that smell coming out of my screen?
But dawg, ball is life! We the real bawlers in this town.
Wow, you got your sister to join too?
Cool man. Looks like a good time. I picked up a lot of rudimentary networking and PC knowledge from LAN successes and failures.
When I was in high school we would do this 3 times a year, once in the beginning of summer break, once at the end and once over christmas break. We would get 20 people in my basement packed like sardines, all throw down $5 for food and drink and get super long extension cords so we could power all of the PC's. Some times we would blow 15 amp breakers so we needed to tap other circuits. Home LAN parties are a blast.
The girl, the brown kid, and what appears the be the host are the only legit gamers in the room.
"Epic LAN Party of Epicness"
Looks more like a bunch of upper middle-class white kids with a lot of expendable money, crammed up in a room together playing minecraft.
OMG is that a gurl
Fake, there was a girl in the pictures.
LOLOLOL WHEREES THE KITCHEN, AMIRITE?! Fuck you.
What if I told you that that is the kitchen
Who gives a shit. Oh, twist! It's a kitchen, now do the confused fry -__- fuck
