Gaming Setup - Computer Setup

Nice set up, all those CRTs.
Heh, thanks! Those CRTs lasted forever. I eventually just donated them cause they'll probably still be working another 8 years from now.
Yeah I was really hoping by the end you would have parted with the CRTs, I started to lose hope. Alas, 2nd to last left me satisfied.
I find it weird that your linux pc has a better CPU than your Gaming PC.. And that you have a locked Motherboard with an unlocked CPU..
Well, I built the gaming machine in 2009. While it's in need of a rebuild, it wasn't higher on the priority list.
Is the price difference between motherboards much either? I bought a long time ago but when I picked my Z77 UD3H it was maybe $50 more than the H77 model. If you're not overclocking (I haven't yet either) you're good I just found it odd:)
Heh, no worries. I'll have to buy a lot when upgrade time comes for that gaming machine. I'll have to buy another motherboard either way, heh.
Does your pfSense router support WiFi, or do you have a WAP hanging off your switch? I assume that you have some kind of WiFi setup and that the rooted Nook isn't just for Angry Birds. ;-)
Heh, no wifi on it yet, but it's on my to-do list. I did buy an extra low-profile ethernet card for the router. Right now that card is just running a DMZ, but I'll probably put a WAP on it eventually. We've got our lame-o ISP issued modem/router not shown that's driving wifi at the moment for the rest of the house.
Huh, that's pretty awesome, actually. Kind of a bummer that it doesn't look like it's dual-band, even for that price point. But the more dials I get to turn, the happier I am. I'll keep that in mind, thanks!
Do you have a tutorial on how to set up a server? I don't use my laptop for anything and it sounds like a fun project
Well, that pretty much depends on what you want the server to do and what you're familiar with. My Windows server experience is limited, so I can't really help you with that (but there are tons of guides and books on it out there).
Ah.. Dem braided IDE cables..
Heh, I know right? I seem to remember hearing a lot of fuss over them back then. I never had an issue with them, with the exception of them being really stiff.
Staples employee here! We do in fact still carry the Ashton. Normally $120 USD, usually goes on sale for $60 USD. It's also the desk I have, I always enjoy seeing gaming setups that use it. Can't wait til mine is set up enough that I feel worthy of posting it here. haha.
Awesome, thanks for the fast response AND the example picture! <3
No problem! Looking at it now, it seems like it tends to yo-yo between $120 and $60. It'll probably go on sale again.
I also have this desk and love it, apart from the beams as you mentioned. It comes with a keyboard tray, if you're into that--I use my tray to keep my computer off the carpet. It's the perfect size for a mid or full tower.
Hey, so I bought a desk recently, and I made the mistake of not opening myself up to 'U-Desks'. Definitely take a look at some if you have multiple monitors/multiple systems.
I like how you can tell exactly when you got into MLP :')
Inside pics of modern i5 machine plz.
Be sure to keep up with r\cablemanagement; this is the perfect 'before' shot. Looking forward to the 'after'!
Nope! At least, not yet. I'm trying to keep the heat down with this computer and most of the things I need it for don't require a card. It's onboard adapter still works pretty well for some light gaming, at least for the source games I've tested on Linux.
Those wallpapers on the pics from 2011-2013
I still use my X-230's as well
Started from the bottom now you here.
OMG I remember when I had my voodoo graphic card.
What's with the Skyrim desktop background before 2005? :P
Which one was this? For some I had to estimate on some of the dates cause they were lost in filesyetem conversion.
Can you post a link to that pheonix wallpaper?
I really love these progression posts.
That ibuypower mouse is the most comfortable mouse i have ever used. too bad they are shit quality;/
I dont know why, but I always enjoy these type of posts. It's always nice to see progression. I wish I had old pictures of my gaming setups...
Desk Buddies! I have the same one! How's it treating you?
Is it wrong that I always shudder a little bit when I see old computers?
Nice desk, I have the same one. Its such a quality desk!
I have that same desk in your later pictures! I love it. I have a totally different setup but yours is inspiring you to try the way you have it. I have the keyboard drawer on the right side of the desk with my keyboard and mouse in it, with my monitors up front on the desk and my tower behind it. On the left side of my desk I just have papers, notes, picture frame, etc. I am debating now to try a different setup, switch things up. Damn it, look what you've done.
I've got the same desk. Nice desk.
People who refer to a laptop as a "lappy" deserve to suffer some kind of untreatable throat cancer.
So, stop having fun on the internet?
I take it you don't like Homestar Runner or Strong Bad Emails?
