Still....the Monitor - Computer Setup

Nice and tidy looks good, What does it feel like at a standing desk?
Thanks, I really like being able to switch between sitting and standing. I probably spend about half the day standing and half the day sitting. I lead a lot of conference calls and do presentations, so being able to stand helps with that.
Nice! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your desk from? And how much was it?
I see your reasoning for the price due to the top size. The top was something I didn't consider much in my search due to wanting to use my own. I believe the cable raceway you're referring to is also on The Human Solution UpLift 900. The cable management package they offer is a joke.
I'd be very interested to see how your gaming setup looks. Any interest in posting a few pictures? :D
Thank you for the breakdown! Your links are very helpful. I wasn't aware of those companies.
The Ergotron you linked weighs 105lbs but only lifts 50lbs. You have to remember the expensive part is the base. I can replace my current top with a full hutch or even cabinets and not worry much because I have 330 lift pounds to work with. The base adjusts from 42-70" wide so I can do a pretty majorly huge desk setup which is important to me.
Great point. I didn't realize how large the disparity was in lift weight.
Thank you for the link! Very interesting!
Has $750+ dollar mac monitor..uses magazines to prop it...i will laugh once it falls and smashes.
You see this all the time on this coolcomputersetups! I prefer looking at colorfull magazines than a boring monitor arm.
Nah, it's all good. It's Playboy so they're all stuck together
Haha, it's quite stable. That said, I'd never have sprung for the mac monitor with my own cash. Everything but the desk, speakers and magazines was courtesy of my employer.
I understand that but seriously though...the mac monitor has its own stand built in D:
Yah i hear you-- it sits a bit low for my height seated or standing, and propping it up aligns the camera so it's not pointing at the man cleavage. We have a large telecommuter workforce and video conferencing is emphasized.
Oh...i guess that makes some sense but still....the monitor will fall if given enough time :(
Very nice setup. Can you give some details on your hardware?
Its a cisco 89xx or 99xx series (they look similar) i know because i got a 9971 at home that looks identical to that. Its a VoIP endpoint that many companies use for VPN setups for people that work from home (either full time or occasionally). Cisco also offers VoIP through the computer but I feel like the end point is much better quality b/c of the codecs or having hardware especially made for codecs. It is a good handset but i think it retails for like 400-900 bucks or something crazy if your company does not buy it for you...
Cool. Yah, I like having a hardware phone as opposed to a softphone. My company provides a cisco softphone and it is terrible. I built my own setup with a polycom hardware phone and asterisk pbx going out through a voip provider. The quality is much better. I really wish the company would offer hardware phones and/or better codecs. Doing calls over G722 with coworker is sooo much better than the rubbish they have right now.
I have a softphone too (Cisco Jabber), which is fine in a pinch if i'm working from a coffee shop or something and don't have to speak much. The other nice thing about Jabber is that I can control my phone hardware from the softphone client (placing/answering calls without touching my handset), so I can go sit on my deck with my wireless headset and control my phone as if it was in front of me.
Sounds cool. We're using "Cisco IP Communicator". The interface is abysmal and the call quality is bad. The call quality might be the way our company has it configured, but I think I read somewhere that it doesn't support any wideband audio codecs.
Very nice. What desk and chair?
I would love a link to that Wallpaper!
The wires are hidden very well, and it looks great! I also love that chair.
I have those same speakers they are awesome from klipsch.
Agreed 100%! I've had them since 2002, and even though I have the volume pot buzzing issue that plagues these, the sound quality itself is phenomenal.
Instead of the magazines that you use to raise up the book you should go to a local cigar store and get a cigar box that is about the same height. There are some really cool wood boxes that the shops will have left over and they often give them away. Put that under the iMac and it will look pretty cool.
Hah, i dig that! at the time, I was just looking around for whatever I had laying around.
Awesome setup, hoping to have something similar in a few months!
If you're looking for some nice monitor stands that don't cost a fortune, then take a look at Monoprice's selection.
That is an apple display, you are pretty much stuck with the stand it has.
Really? Well that sucks. I thought you were able to detach the stand and put a VESA mount on it.
$39 for an adaptor? Really Apple?
Keep in mind that this is built to hold iMacs which are really heavy
Love those Aeron chairs, they make a hell of a case against standing. Everything looks great, keep it up.
