I have to admit, it is a really clever use for Chromecast.
Essentially connected to the PC, but without being connected as a display or using many resources.
Not that it would use many resources anyways. Pushing pixels is easy if you aren't 3D rendering to them (which you wouldn't be able to do via chromecast anyways).
You're right, that is clever. I will need to keep that in mind.
What's the name of the volume knob
How do you like it?
Works really well. esp for pausing music really quickly. it was kinda pricey at $30 but i dont regret it. you can program it for other hotkeys too for specific apps
So I could, for example, make it pause/play my music in iTunes and pause/play my videos in VLC? if I have it programmed to two apps, say itunes and excel for scrolling through data, will it mess up?
For the itunes/vlc, i think you could enable hotkeys in each to play/pause and just bind the combination to an action on the powermate.
Can you turn off the light?
Yup. it buried in the settings but you can turn it off/change the intensity/have it pulse when its sleeping etc. right now its set to get brigther as the volume goes up
Cool, I have been looking for a mechanical keyboard that I like with dedicated media keys for a while now but this may be my answer.
I used Key Tweek to remap my Insert Home and Page Up keys as media keys. Works great.
You can always download itunescontrol, and map your keys for playback and volume control on your keyboard.
Is that a volume knob or '3d mouse'?
That case has me all hot and bothered. I think I must have it. How do you like it?
Awesome case... has a nice matte finish, good airflow, plenty of room to stash cables in the back and was really easy to work with. it is a little wide though so you have to keep that into consideration. I might want to change out the stock fans though...been messing with it under high load and can def hear all the fans whirring.
What's the LED strips you used and how do you power it (power supply or external)?
Looks like nzxt hue. all internal
I like your taste, OP. The case and volume controller especially.
Honestly didnt know i'd get so people asking me about the volume controller...hahahah
How does 1440p compair to 1080p? Is it worth the money?
Its a pretty big difference. im really enojoying it so far. if you gpu can handle it, you should def look into it. the korean 1440p screens can be had for less than 300 on sale
Interesting. What kind of proformance hits are you getting while gaming? Did you proform any before and after benchmarks?
I didnt do any before and after tests but from what I've read, you should get a radeon 7950 or better if you want to game on 1440p with high settings. 1440p also would benefit from the 3gb that the 7950 offers.
Sounds good. I'm currently using a 275 GTX however I should be upgrading to a 770 soon. I'll be playing Battlefield almost exclusivly.
Where did you get that wrist pad? I have been looking for a nice one, my gel one gets kinda gross after long sessions.
I was considering that case. Went with an Obsidian 350D to save some space. What do you think of it?
Ah, I considering that too as well as the corsair 600t. I ended up with the air 540 cause the others seemed to be too tall to place on my side desk. Also it seemed like a new take on designing a case and cable management has been a breeze. Def reccomend the air 540 for any new builds.
I'm headed off to college next year and a big case would be an issue. But for my next build, assuming I'll have more space by then, I'm going with a big cube case like yours or the HAF Xb.
Also...if they made something like the 540 for the Obsidian line, i woulda been so over that.
Keyboard? Looking to get a new one.
Tenkeyless on such a spacious desk?
Got it a few years ago with old desk/build. there werent as many options for mech keyboards. probably wouldnt get a TKL next time around though. miss having the nunm pad
Specs? Video card? I'm really digging that case for my second build.
What's that giant mouse pad called?
I am on my phone... Is that smaller monitor a mini monitor our tablet? Nice setup, BTW.
Graphics card? and how well does it perform?
Using a sapphire 7950 and overclocked it a little so its around 7970 levels. So far its handling everything i throw at it. Ran bioshock infinite, tomb raider and ffxiv on high with no issues.
Just the middle one. could do eyefinity but theyre not all the same resolution so it looks a bit weird
Really? I have seen several 1440 / 1080 resolution Eyefinity setups, and they never mentioned it.
Havent had much time to mess with eyefinity but i believe it uses the lowest resolution of the group and applies to all. someone can correct me if thats wrong.
