Very interested in one of these as well, actually. I'd be curious if you'd experienced any drawbacks as well?
Just gonna copy paste what i said to the first comment:
Very cool, I've had my eye on one of those monitors for a while now. Have you noticed any real drawbacks to ultrawide so far?
I'm curious how they work with gaming. do most games support that resolution or do you get a letterbox effect with blank black space on the sides?
Most modern games will run at that resolution, if not there are quite a few mods that will make them. Some absolutely won't but they still look stunning in 1920x1080, plus you get a bit of light shining round the sides which I feel helps focus your peripheral to the center, so you still get the immersion.
Hahaha thanks for the tip :P
Well since getting it set up last night for the first time, I ran 4 games, and I'll list my experiences so far here:
BF4 - fucking wonderful, the extra FOV without having to extend the FOV in the settings is nice because it doesn't cause things to stretch in the peripheral like they do when you use the setting for it. Only drawback I would say is that it takes some getting used to, going from 20" to 29" and super extended causes your aim to be off for a few matches, but it is truly immersive, you literally feel as if you're being sucked in.
Skyrim - Only drawback is to get it to full resolution you have to launch with SKSE and change it in your Skyrimprefs.ini file since the launcher doesn't allow the resolution natively. Things look a bit stretched, but not by much and with all the mods running it's a wonderfully immersive experience.
CS:GO - Yes, it supports the full resolution, and it is fucking wonderful, you can see both doors in some spots which is massively beneficial when guarding a bomb spot. Same drawbacks as BF4 with the aiming.
Magrunner: Dark Pulse - this game is glorious, if you like Cthulu and you Like portal and want them both in one plus magnets, this is the game for you. Looks stunning in 2560x1080, another wonderfully immersive experience.
What GPU are you running and did you notice any difference in performance (fps wise) I'm planing on getting an ultra wide monitor but I'm only running a gtx760 which is awesome don't get me wrong but I'm wondering at that resolution would I still be able to max games I can already max out. Thanx and aweosme set up btw
I'm running the R9 270x from PowerColor, their Devil edition, so it's a little over clocked out the box. Honestly, going from 1600x900 to 2560x1080 I've experienced no drops in FPS, at least noticeable to me, and I play CS:GO competitive matches a lot. The only game I have noticed a dip in was Skyrim and that's with an ungodly amount of mods and forcing it to that resolution like I said, before I forced it, it ran like butter. I've got a friend with the 760 and he runs an 3 screen 1440 set up and he leaves his shit on ultra even while playing "competitively", so I'd say you'd be good.
Sweet corsair m65! :D
how does it feel? I'm planning to buy it but I want to hear more reviews.
So I got it delivered to my office, right? Legit for NOC work, I was copying lines of bash script like a boss, didn't even mess with the weights and the center of gravity was bomb. Shells for days.
Got it home and hit up BF4 first, on top of this ultrawide, it's a wonderful combo for gaming, max DPI with about 50% in game sensitivity this thing with slide across the screen like butter and hold where you need it to. In counter strike, the sniper button is a god send for controlling recoil, I'm fragging so much I might start making videos.
Is it possible to run 3 of those ultrawides?
What's the " of those side monitors?
If you take a look at the Speccy screenshot, you can see that those are 20 inches.
